Landmarks of (very) early animation

April 6, 1906: animation begins with "Humorous Phases of Funny Faces", produced by the Vitagraph Company (which was owned by Thomas Edison)





1914 - Windsor McCay helps introduce surrealism in animation, via his Vaudeville short, "Gertie the Dinosaur"
